Design coordinator
The Design Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all design activities related to the project, with a particular focus on underground works, including infrastructure , tunneling and excavation. The role ensures technical coherence, constructability, and compliance of the design in coordination with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities (architecture, structure, MEP, geotechnical, civil)
- Act as the main interface between designers, consultants, geotechnical engineers, and construction teams
- Coordinate and review design related to tunneling, excavation works, rock support, and underground structures
- Ensure constructability and alignment between design solutions and site execution constraints
- Monitor and control design deliverables in accordance with project schedule and contractual requirements
- Manage design interfaces and resolve technical clashes, particularly related to underground works
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and local regulations
- Support design reviews, value engineering, and technical workshops
- Participate in design meetings, coordination reviews, and technical discussions
- Ensure consistency between design intent and construction execution
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architecture
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in design coordination on complex infrastructure or building projects
- Proven experience in projects involving tunneling, excavation, underground works, or rock engineering (strong advantage)
- Experience on large-scale or international projects is highly desirable
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of tunneling methods, excavation techniques, and rock support systems
- Ability to review geotechnical reports, design drawings, and technical specifications
- Experience with design coordination tools (AutoCAD, BIM, Revit – advantage)
- Familiarity with international standards related to underground works
